Our team members recently volunteered with The Education Partnership. The nonprofit supports teachers in over 200 school districts in Western Pa. by providing supplies and crafts. It was great to support TEP and our teachers!

Our team members were in the Clairton School District to put on a farmers market recently. Through collaboration with Pittsburgh Area Community Schools (PACS) and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, we distributed 3,011 pounds of produce to over 125 families in the Clairton community! We all are working hard to help our neighbors.

Our team members volunteered at last week, working directly with the Horticulture team. They planted trees and shrubs, and trimmed and weeded throughout the zoo. Helping to beautify a great wildlife space like the zoo was time well spent!

Highmark Wholecare recently awarded $30,000 to Soles4Souls’ 4EveryKid program to provide 1,500 pairs of new athletic shoes to children attending Pittsburgh-area schools who are experiencing homelessness. Our team members were at Sto-Rox Middle School for a farmers market recently. Working with Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, they distributed 2,700 pounds of fresh produce to school families and community members. It was a great event and we were happy to provide our support.

Kelsey Linn, manager, Pharmacy Care Management, presented at the 2024 Pharmacy Quality Alliance Annual Meeting in Baltimore last week. Along with Pennsylvania Pharmacists Care Network representatives, their presentation highlighted Highmark Wholecare's extensive work to make innovative services like naloxone education, SDoH assessments and home visits available to our members. The meeting was a wonderful opportunity to share the amazing work being done by Highmark Wholecare and PPCN on a national stage.

Highmark Wholecare proudly supported our communities in Philadelphia and attended Mother’s Day events across the city. We were honored to work with organizations like Philadelphia Housing Authority, Norris Square Senior Community Center, HACE CDC and others to celebrate this special occasion. Ophelia started working with Highmark Wholecare in March to provide telehealth addiction services to its patients. Last week, our team members volunteered alongside East End Cooperative Ministry staff to plant a community garden in East Liberty. Tomatoes, peppers, kale, collard greens, green beans, zucchini, cucumbers, and a myriad of spices were put into garden boxes. Anyone is welcome to pick from the garden.
